Lane Cove council is proposing charging dog walkers an annual fee to take your dog to the dog park. If this proceeds, if wont be long till our own local council implements the same charges.
Here is an article from the daily telegraph reporting the issue: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/search-for-petty-cash-putting-the-bite-on-dog-walkers/story-e6freuy9-1226629577595. This was also reported on The Project: http://theprojecttv.com.au/video.htm?movideo_p=39696
“Dog Walkers paying an annual fee to use parks will make no difference, our clients are rate payers and we should be able to use the parks on their behalf. The only difference paying a fee will do is give more money to the council. If Lane Cove passes the proposal, it will not be long before other councils also charge a fee”.
